We got off here – not because we wanted to see the building but the tour guide was awful – and one of the suggestions we got is if you don’t like the tour guide get off – and get back on the next bus! There was also a cool exhibit going on – and we couldn’t figure out what it was from the bus so we wanted to see. Turns out it was Starbucks – they were making a picture of a tree using different colors of coffee and taking pledges to not use disposable cups. If you gave them a disposable cup they would give you a travel tumbler FREE! Adam found us two used cups to turn in and we scored ourselves two new tumblers – perfect for some hot cocoa!
This was a clock that could be seen from Madison Square
This statue was at the edge of the park – while we didn’t get this information from the tourguide on this trip we found out later that the body is actually that of Abraham Lincoln and the head is William H. Seward – a little interesting fact!
We hopped back on the next bus that went by.
The bus sucked - it had a roof on the top! It was a BEAUTIFUL day and I didn’t want to be in a green house! So we hopped off pretty much the next stop and made note to pay better attention to the buses we were boarding!
Here is the same place after we were off the bus.
We stopped in at a little bakery for a treat – a Canoli – it was yummy!
Entrance to Washington Square Park
Water towers on the tops of the buildings are frequently seen here. Not one tour guide explained it to us (of course we didn’t ask either) but when we were eating on our anniversary they explained that in order to have water pressure the water needs to come down from the top rather than be pumped upwards. Makes perfect sense!
Another look at just how tall the bus was!
to be continued....
