After finally getting everything ready to go we left Brentwood at 2:30pm. We breezed through rush hour traffic without to much trouble. We did stop a couple times at rest stops along Hwy 80, through the Sierra;s. We did fun little scavenger hunts and worksheets to earn tickets (which they could redeem for goodies - like a big huge pixie stick). The girls fell asleep while we were still driving. It was windy so Adam ended up driving the whole day today. We stayed in the Flyin J Parking Lot in Wells, NV.

We woke up just as the sun was starting to rise and drove up Highway 93 toward Jackpot, NV. After crossing into Idaho we went to the Twin Falls Temple. Afterwards we drove just a short ways farther to Shashone Falls - a stunningly beautiful group of falls on the Snake River (something we didn’t realize we would see again and again and again). The girls and I took a hike up to a meadow and it had a great overview of the whole area. After a short drive north we came upon Art in the Park in the town of Shashone. We enjoyed the vendors, a ride in a train, a garage sale and the girls made molds of a fox and wolf paw. A fill up at the gas station we went on to Craters of the Moon where both girls became Lunar Rangers and Junior Rangers. A drive through the park and plans to go into the caves were interrupted by pouring rain, thunder and lightening. We decided to head out towards Idaho Falls. Adam was tired so we stopped at a rest stop just outside of Arco. The stop gave me time to straighten up the RV and put things away. Before it got to late we headed to the Idaho Falls Temple (where it continued to rain). The girls were quite happy to stand in the rain for a picture with the temple (I had an umbrella over me). We then stopped at Wal-Mart for those items we missed - like windshield wipers and bear spray. We headed toward Jackson but thankfully stopped before we got there at Bridger National Forest - near the Palisades Reservoir.
